Manifest It Like a Memory: 3 Steps to Recode How You See Your Life
What if manifesting isn't something you get later, but a memory you recall? Try Scott Haug's three steps: loosen the old view, build the inner world, remember.
Have you ever noticed how manifesting can start to feel like waiting? You set the intention, you do the practice, and then you watch the door, wondering when it's going to show up. Days go by. The waiting becomes its own kind of heaviness.
My mentor Scott Haug shared a short practice that flips this completely. He calls it recoding how you relate to reality, and the heart of it is this: manifesting isn't something you get later. It's a memory you recall.
Here are the three steps, the way I practice them.
Step 1: Loosen the old view
Scott's first step is to disorient the old way of seeing things. Treat this place like a lucid dream, and then ask, "Who is the dreamer?"
I love this because it gives me a little breathing room. When I'm stuck in a hard week, everything feels so solid and permanent. The bills, the tension at home, the client who didn't sign. Asking "who is the dreamer?" reminds me that I'm more than what's happening around me. That question alone loosens the grip.
Try it: Next time you feel stuck, pause and look around the room as if you're inside a dream. Then ask the question quietly. You don't need an answer. Just notice what shifts.
Step 2: Build a whole new inner world
This is where most of us go wrong. We focus on one isolated outcome, like a number in the bank account or one specific client, and everything else inside us stays the same.
Scott teaches that you build a complete new inner world instead. That includes your inner conversations and how the world sees you, "Because how the world sees you is how you see yourself." Then you go to that higher place inside and rewrite the script.
So if you want to be a woman who's well paid for her gifts, it's not just the income. It's how you talk to yourself on a Tuesday morning. How you answer when someone asks what you do. How you imagine your friends and family responding when they hear your good news.
Try it: Write a short paragraph describing an ordinary day in the life you're calling in. Not the big moment. The normal part. What do you say to yourself while you make coffee? How do people treat you? What do you no longer worry about?
Step 3: Turn it into a memory
This is the step that changed everything for me. Scott says manifesting isn't something you get later. It's a memory you recall, because your soul is already experiencing it.
Think about how a real memory feels. You don't strain to believe it. You don't wonder if it happened. You just remember it, and your body softens.
That's the feeling we're practicing. Not hype. Not forcing. Just quiet recognition.
Try it: Close your eyes and recall your desire as if it happened last month. Where were you when it came through? Who did you tell first? What did you feel in your chest? Stay with it for a minute or two, then let it go and go about your day.
Why this works when chasing doesn't
When we're chasing, we're telling ourselves over and over that we don't have it yet. When we remember, we're living from the place where it's already true. That's a completely different signal, and it feels so much lighter to carry.
This pairs beautifully with the career square I shared last week. Write the intention, feel it as done, and then let it become a memory instead of something you're waiting on.
Make it a daily rhythm
Scott's simple advice was to save the practice and keep coming back to it so it really sinks in. Some days the memory will feel vivid. Some days it'll feel faint. Keep returning anyway. That's how a new inner world becomes your normal one.
